Welcome to my homepage dedicated to photography!

I started creating collections of photographs which I took since the end of the seventies with my first camera: Mamiya 135 EE. I changed cameras, lenses and format over time. Nowadays I’m taking pictures with different film and digital cameras: 35mm, 6×6 or 4×5 cameras of different brands (Leica, Nikon, Rollei, Contax, Linhof) and digital ones of Nikon and Fujifilm. I still use films because I like the process of developing and enlarging and of course the very attractive rendering; just time is missing… Digital cameras are also great because of their incredible resolution and dynamic. I use them for landscape photography or for projects like Fotogra4.

The fotogra4 project

I started this fantastic project with Reiner Oswald , a very talented photographer living in Bamberg. Our initial motivation was to document old, traditional shops in the city of Bamberg. We ended the project with an exhibition in a famous bookstore presenting the pictures we took of ten of these shops. We are currently continuing this project by taking pictures of traditional craftsmen’s establishments. We’re preparing a second exhibition right now – come see us in 2019!

Only five pictures

If you had to select only five pictures, which ones would you choose?

My choice:

This picture was taken in Beroun in today’s Czech Republic. During September of 1988 I spent some days with friends in Prague. Together we chose this city for an excursion. This (red) star is a symbol reminiscent of the false hope of a better world communism gave people.

Printing!

I used for decades a darkroom but what to do with all the digital files? I often gave my pictures for printing to labs like digitaloriginal.de or larger labs like saal-digital.de and never really invested time in printing digital photo files myself. This ends two weeks ago. I read a lot about carbon printing in …

The Cévennes

We spend some days in the Cévennes (parc national) last summer. The very changing scenary invites to take pictures all day long. I focused this time using my Fujifilm X-T2 mainly with 23mm 1.4 lens. Few pictures were taken also with the 16mm 1.4 one. I also used my adapted Contax G 90mm 2.8 lens. …
